About HS Gaited Horse Ranch

The HS Gaited Horse Ranch is owned and managed by Esther Hornecker.

She is a third generation horsewoman, having been raised on a working cattle ranch in the Wind River Mountains near Lander, Wyoming.  Esther oversees all ranch activities, including personally riding each horse.  She intimately knows the unique characteristics of each and every one of the ranch’s horses.

The success of the entire operation is due to Esther’s commitment to finding the finest Gaited Horses throughout the country, working with each horse thru a comprehensive training program, and then matching the horse and buyer.

Esther has full responsibility for all ranch management activities and devotes much of her time to locating, acquiring, training and matching Gaited Horses. The ranch is located in  Penrose, Colorado selected to take advantage of the great climate, open ranges, and optimal terrain for exercising and training Gaited Horses.

Much of the success of the ranch’s sale and matching program is due to the direct involvement by Esther in the selection and purchase of each horse.  Esther rides each and every horse before she makes a purchase decision, and she evaluates the perspective horse as if it was to be her very own.  Additionally, she personally oversees all shipping and transportation with the same concern for the horse’s health and safety.

Esther carries on the family tradition, instilled in her by her father and grandfather, of natural horse sense, responsibility, honesty, and integrity.
